Acute signs of appendicitis

Appendicitis typically starts with a pain in the middle of your abdomen (tummy) that may come and go. In the acute form of the illness, the signs of appendicitis are easier to detect, but they usually occur after the development of complications. The pain can become more acute and sharper as the nearby tissues get affected by the inflammation.
Consider an appendectomy for patients with a history of persistent abdominal pain, fever, and clinical signs of localized or diffuse peritonitis, especially if leukocytosis is present. Treatment for appendicitis may include a course of antibiotics (only if the appendicitis is caught early on, and it is very mild) or as in most cases, surgery under general anesthesia to remedy the appendicitis.
